Looking to Buy a Used Laptop?

Do you really want or need a laptop? Your desktop (if you have one), just can't offer you the mobility that you need. Maybe you don't have enough money to afford a new one? Well, consider the option of buying a used laptop.

So, you decided that you want to buy a used laptop. Picking out the right laptop may turn out to be a difficult task, even for experts.

The first thing you should check before you buy a used laptop is the warranty. If it's got one, it's perfect. But the price may be higher than that of one without a warranty. To buy a used laptop is very different from buying a desktop! The prices are a lot higher and you've got less performance in general.

Since you are buying a system, you must pay attention to every little thing. The display is LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), that's why they are so slim; they do not have that old tube which makes monitors so deep and heavy. They consume a lot less power than your classic monitor.

Check that the display does not contain dead pixels. You can do that by placing a blank (white) image on the display. If you see spots that are not white, then those are dead pixels. That is the most common problem with an LCD display. Check also the battery. Normally, the laptop should be able to function for 3 hours. This period of time depends on the manufacturer and the laptop type. This is the main problem with used laptops.

If you are using is it to the max (e.g. playing games, watching a movie, etc.), then a 3-hour period may turn out to be two to two and a half hours.

Another thing you should keep in mind when you want to buy a used laptop is what you plan to do with it. For example, if you want to buy a used laptop so that you can write text documents and run other simple applications, an older laptop (thus cheaper) will do just fine. But the chances of it breaking down are a lot higher than one that has not been used so much.

If you want to buy a used laptop, then the Internet is a great place where you can start looking. But no matter how old the laptop is, there is no such thing as buying a used laptop for next to nothing! This may help you when you want to buy from different sellers.
